This week in Asphalt Paving Machines News, we're highlighting the new Roadtec RP-series highway-class asphalt pavers. We'll also discuss the Trimble Roadworks 3D Paving Control Platform for Asphalt Pavers and a new Caterpillar compact asphalt pavers line.
Roadtec RP-Series Highway Class Asphalt Pavers
The Roadtec RP-series asphalt pavers feature powerful, rubber-tired construction, an easy-to-handle operator station, and a wide hopper. This paper is designed for high-volume paving jobs, including multi-lane highway projects. The large hopper allows for high-volume filling and a gradual increase in ground pressure. It also features standard fume extraction systems and a ride control tension system for the operator's area.
RP-series asphalt pavers from Roadtec feature an enhanced cooling system mounted on the side of the machine. This system ensures a cooler working environment, allowing optimum speed and power under varying load conditions. This also improves airflow. The RP-170e paver can run with two separate settings – Heat Boost and Eco.
The RP-series asphalt pavers from Roadtec feature an advanced telematics system. This system enables customer service personnel to monitor the machine remotely and identify issues. Using the system, the Roadtec customer support team can see the machine while it's in operation, so they can immediately resolve any issues. As such, it offers unparalleled investment protection.
The RP-170e features an extended travel range and a tight turning radius of 30 inches (762 mm). Its narrow shipping width of 10' 6" (3194 mm) allows convenient transportation between job sites. The RP-170e also offers dual operator stations, which ensures a clear line of sight down the machine.
RP-series highway class asphalt paver features a hydraulically raised auger assembly that can be raised or lowered. These pavers are also equipped with sonic feed sensors. The auger chain case width has been kept low to reduce segregation. They also feature a thirteen-inch high conveyor opening. Each of these features has its conveyor drive.
Trimble Roadworks 3D Paving Control Platform for Asphalt Pavers
Trimble Roadworks is a next-generation platform for 3D asphalt paving control systems. It features a highly accurate automatic 3D screed control system that optimizes paving productivity and rideability. The new system also reduces asphalt usage and waste and helps finish projects on time.
Roadworks are compatible with many different types of asphalt paving machines. It has a large display and an intuitive layout. It also offers control of material thickness and crosses slope. Additionally, it supports third-party apps. It's compatible with the SITECH distribution channel.
This technology enables road builders to build a smooth, variable-slope, variable-depth road with fewer errors and lower costs. The Roadworks 3D Paving Control Platform automatically follows the slope and thickness design, guiding the screed to apply the right amount of material.
With its 3D accuracy, Trimble Roadworks' Paving Control Platform improves compaction efficiency and reduces unnecessary compaction passes. In addition to reducing material and labor costs, the system allows users to make accurate cross-slopes and avoid unnecessary repeat passes. Users can also use it to improve the quality of paving and minimize material costs.
Wirtgen Paving Machines
Wirtgen is expanding its paving machine line with the WPS 102i Placer/Spreader launch, the SP 94i slipform paver, and the TCM 180i texture curing machine. The SP 94i paver is equipped with TeleMold, allowing quick width changes. These machines also feature the Autopilot 2.0 control system and string line scanning.
In addition to standard paving machines, Wirtgen also offers cold recycling systems. These systems enable the reuse of existing asphalt pavement. The existing pavement is granulated and prepared to receive asphalt or other paving materials using the milling and mixing rotor. The process results in a homogeneous mixture that can be directly repaved.
Caterpillar's New Compact Line of Asphalt Pavers
Caterpillar's new compact line of screeds and asphalt pavers is designed for urban applications. They combine automatic speed control and eco-mode technology to run at lower rpm and still meet performance needs. In addition, they meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V emission standards. This line of paving equipment is designed to work on various surface types and can handle tough jobs in tight spaces.
Caterpillar's compact line of asphalt pavers features high-density layers of asphalt or granular materials. They also feature user-friendly controls for production rate, paving depth, and speed. These new compact pavers also feature adjustable ramp times and heavy-duty frames. They can also be extended for extra-wide paving.
Cat's compact line of asphalt pavers is perfect for small and mid-size jobs. Their easy maneuverability, precision controls, and Mobil-Trac undercarriage systems make them ideal for various jobs. They can be towed or self-propelled, depending on their size and weight.
The HA90C-2 and HA60W-8 pavers have been used to resurface the runway at Tokyo Haneda Airport. The Japanese firm uses these machines in a two-echelon configuration to pave a 12-meter runway. The HA60W-8 features a hot-to-hot joint, allowing for optimum material bonding.
The cab and engine of the tracked and wheeled asphalt pavers are steel. The mainframe is heavy-gauge steel, and the feeder conveyor and distribution augers are made of Ni-Hard steel. The screed is comprised of steel tubing, channel, and plate. The engine cover is also made of steel sheets.
